Artist Series: Gabe Ostley

Today we present Gabe Ostley, an artist and comic book illustrator we commissioned for several fantasy-inspired cards (with more planned).

Gabe Ostley, a Minnesota native with a BFA in Sequential Art from SCAD, worked in illustration and licensed characters in New York before becoming Artist-in-Residence for the Yew Chung Education Foundation in Hong Kong. There he expanded into painting, installations, murals, and large sculptures, and his comics were published by DC Comics, Devil’s Due, and various indie presses. After returning to the U.S., he adapted Declan Greene’s play Moth into a graphic novel for The Cincinnati Review. He now resides in Portland, OR with his artist wife Haruka and family.

Mythril Made partnered with Gabe to create his unique “Greetings from the Gang” card featuring The Lord of the Rings characters as well as three D&D-inspired character cards.

These cards were hand-printed on a 1922 Chandler and Price letterpress by our own true master printer, using the same techniques Gutenberg employed almost 600 years ago. Printed on cotton paper with plant-based inks.

We have more works from Gabe coming out later in 2026!
