Introducing The Foundations of Fantasy Book Series
Celebrating the authors and stories that built the foundations of modern fantasy by reproducing and reintroducing out of print and hard to find classic literature, handcrafted to honor the printmakers and artists that helped bring their tales to life.
The first book in our Foundations of Fantasy series is the 1933 edition of The Story of King Arthur and His Knights, written and illustrated by Howard Pyle. First published in 1903, it was republished in 1933 and named the “Howard Pyle Brandywine Edition”, which will ring a bell for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien (who was 11 years old at the time of the first print edition) as the Brandywine River is one of the most important waterways in the Shire and the surrounding lands of Tolkien’s middle-earth.
This book is long out of print and very difficult to find but we have a copy and we’ve begun the process of scanning and retyping each page to reproduce the book in total with classic typesetting, rescanned high-resolution images of the original printed artwork, handmade letterpress inserts, and additional content alongside the original text and art.
Starting in December, only for subscribers to our newsletter, we’ll be releasing at least one chapter digitally each month in serial format on our website so you can read this seldom seen work and enjoy the story as we work on volume one of the custom print edition which will be available next year.
