Thanks to all of you that read and shared our last newsletter, we’re grateful for your continued interest and support. We too are always seeking new adventures so pull up a chair and read on for updates and a special announcement on a new project of ours.

New Mythril Made Products

After a very busy summer, we’re finishing up some of our Fall line of products with the following coming out for sale at the end of the month:

Foil letterpress stationary: Four new products featuring letterpress artwork with a metallic foil design element that will delight fans of Lord of the Rings, dragons, elves (the fantasy kind, not the Santa kind), and Vikings.

Ink letterpress stationary: Three new products featuring design elements of Gandalf and the Shire and updated reprints of some of our better selling dragon-themed stationary.

Special Announcement: Coming Soon to Mythril Made, The Foundations of Fantasy!

Introducing The Foundations of Fantasy Book Series: Celebrating the authors and stories that built the foundations of modern fantasy by reproducing and reintroducing out of print and hard to find classic literature, handcrafted to honor the printmakers and artists that helped bring their tales to life.

The first book in our Foundations of Fantasy series is the 1933 edition of The Story of King Arthur and His Knights, written and illustrated by Howard Pyle. First published in 1903, it was republished in 1933 and named the “Howard Pyle Brandywine Edition”, which will ring a bell for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien (who was 11 years old at the time of the first print edition) as the Brandywine River is one of the most important waterways in the Shire and the surrounding lands of Tolkien’s middle-earth.

This book is long out of print and very difficult to find but we have a copy and we’ve begun the process of scanning and retyping each page to reproduce the book in total with classic typesetting, rescanned high-resolution images of the original printed artwork, handmade letterpress inserts, and additional content alongside the original text and art.

Starting in December, only for subscribers to our newsletter, we’ll be releasing at least one chapter digitally each month in serial format on our website so you can read this seldom seen work and enjoy the story as we work on volume one of the custom print edition which will be available next year.

We think all of you will greatly enjoy this adventure of ours, and if you think others would too, please have them sign up for our newsletter for access to the digital content starting in December and new chapters and announcements on this project through all of next year!

We have even more planned in the upcoming months, so stay tuned.

We heard you all clamoring for content (or maybe we imagined it, that is what we spend a lot of our time doing) so figured we better get on it. Below, and monthly, find information on new and upcoming products from Mythril Made, get early notice on upcoming sales, and read about what you’ll be listening to on Heroes and Mortals Radio! Now that the screams have quieted, lets get down to it.

New Mythril Made Products

We had a busy summer and have created a slew of new products and because we’re huge Tolkien nerds, all our new products are themed around middle-earth and the shire. Here are the highlights:

Bookmarks: Two four-bookmark sets with shire homes in spring and winter watercolor designs.
Coasters: Rubber non-slip coasters (for home or car) with shire and Prancing Pony Porter designs.
Mousepad: A mousepad with a custom drawn map of middle-earth.
Mugs: It’s getting cold, enjoy those warmed drinks in a series of shire home and shire door themed mugs or our one-of-a-kind thermal heat-changing mug that reveals the Hidden Door to Dwarfdom (based off Tolkien’s Door of Durin).
Totes and Bags: Two new tote bags with the quote “Not all those who wander are lost. Some are reading” (and a “…Some are shopping” version), and our newest product, a wine bottle bag featuring a familiar shire home and the phrase “Pairs well with mushrooms, bacon, and unexpected guests”.

We take a lot of pride in our products, particularly our letterpress cards and when we get feedback like the kind comment below, it truly encourages us to keep creating. From a happy customer who purchased our “Rumi Love” letterpress card:

Heroes and Mortals Radio

Epic fantasy and sci-fi radio forged from the heroes and mortals of history and myth!

It has risen! The Annual Heroes and Mortals Radio Mythic Event, Halloween Soundtricks is here!

Our annual Halloween celebration of spooks and sounds, and spooky sounds, will air October 29th – 31st starting each evening 5-6pm (see the full schedule here). From classic radio program favorites like Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds and Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, to one of our favorite podcasts, The H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast, to haunting and horrific music, it’s sure to be an event that will raise the hair on the back of your neck…or possibly the dead themselves!
