MYTHRIL MADE PRODUCTS and NEWS
Beaverton Bazaar!
We had a great time and a good day at the Beaverton Holiday Bazaar so thank you to anyone who visited us or signed up for our newsletter. We’ll be back next year and possibly a few more throughout the year, we’ll update here when we do.
Holiday Cheer
As always thank you so much to everyone for supporting us through our Etsy shop. We’ve had a banner year and with some new products such as our Vintage Christmas, Bigfoot, “Stained Glass”, and D&D ornaments or our Narnia-inspired cards and ceramic tiles/coasters all selling well the past few weeks, we already have ideas for next year along with some real challenging and unique pieces we’ll be working on throughout the year. Thank you again as your support means everything to us and inspires us to keep creating.
A New Newsletter
We teased a new format for our newsletter last month but given the holiday rush just haven’t had a chance to finalize it yet so keep an eye out next month for a new format with a lot more content!

Holiday Hearth: A multi-day musical event of yuletide fun!
December 21st – Christmas Day!
It’s that time of year again when people (or dragons) are singing out loud with songs of holiday cheer. In between your caroling, tune in to HAMR for our annual Holiday Hearth Mythic Event, 5 days of holiday music and audio programming. We play many of your traditional favorites as well as a number of tunes you may not have heard (and certainly won’t hear through your normal musical apps) and we also feature classic radio plays and dramas throughout the day. No matter if it’s Santa or Krampus visiting you this year, we’re sure you’ll enjoy our annual Holiday Hearth musical event. Visit our website for the full schedule or just tune in December 21st-25th.
Thank you all for a wonderful year and for reading our ramblings. We hope everyone has a safe and pleasant holiday and an even better new year.

As many of you know, we’ve been building out a dedicated print shop which is nearly finished. We’ve named our shop “Creekhollow” which you may recognize as a nod to Tolkien’s Crickhollow. With our 1891 Chandler and Price Press (named “Pippen”) in place we’ll soon be producing some new products and researching and testing some ideas we’ve had for our own paper, inks, and printing techniques.

Halloween Soundtricks is here. Oct. 29-31st… aaaaaAAAAHHHH!
Our shop is almost finished! After a LOT of work (structural and cosmetic) our shop repairs and renovations are done and we began moving our equipment in. Our over 125 year old Chandler & Price Press (we think it’s from about 1893 but haven’t confirmed that) you can see disassembled in the corner, still needs a little cleaning and minor repairs, before we assemble and test it, but it should be operating in the next few weeks. Off to the left you can see our two large type cabinets, every drawer is full of different type faces so we’ll have plenty of print options ahead of us. There are a few other items we’ve acquired too, all of which will allow us greater flexibility in what we create and when. Check this space and our website in the coming months for a longer post and more information, upcoming new products, and some video of the press in action!
Mark your calendar: September 22nd is Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday and, as we do every year, we’ll be having a musical party of special magnificence! Check the HAMR website in the next few weeks for an up to date schedule, but for a few days prior we’ll be running custom themed sets of music, book readings, soundtracks, and other audio events, all inspired by and about J.R.R. Tolkien’s middle-earth!

We play more than just music on HAMR, we also run a daily “Talk and Tales” segment along with an extended play on Sundays. One of our favorite programs is “The SFFaudio Podcast” which we rebroadcast on HAMR every Monday-Saturday at 11am Pacific and again on Sunday at 2pm Pacific. Each ½ hour show the two hosts discuss a short piece of sci-fi media (short story, film, or music) and for most short story content the stories can be read on their website as well. Tune in and visit our HAMR site below for more information and links to their site, podcast, and show times.

Last month was our “May the 4th Be With You” Mythic Event with a day long play of the music of Star Wars and if you want even *more* sci-fi, then tune in Monday nights from 6-11pm Pacific for our “Sci-Fi Journey’s” evening of themed programming, every Monday night!
Happy Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Graduation.
A lot of you probably think “These guys are all about middle-earth, what about all the other worlds that deserve attention?”. A lot of you are correct, and while middle-earth is certainly where we spend most of our time, we also venture into other worlds, and soon we’ll be venturing into the world of Star Wars with our annual May the Fourth Be With You Mythic Radio Event! May 4th (get it, May Fourth…May the Force…?) we celebrate with a day long play of the music of Star Wars and the brilliance of John Williams (and others) who created the iconic music that brought those movies to life.
New to our shop and available in the upcoming weeks, more “Scenes at the Shire” Cards!
Here’s a very kind review from a happy Mythril Made customer:
March 25th is coming up and why is that special? That’s the day Frodo (with a LOT of help from Sam, the rest of the Fellowship, and all the free people’s of middle-earth) destroyed the One Ring by tossing it in to Mount Doom, destroying Sauron’s increasing grip on middle-earth. March 25th has become a holiday among Tolkien fandom and by way of
Last month we announced we are creating custom hand set letterpressed personalized notecards and prints. Hand set type is how the creators of moveable type printed hundreds of years ago, one letter at a time using wood (or in our case metal) molds of each letter, symbol, and character. While we have the letterpress equipment, hand made paper, natural inks and foils, to create everything, what we didn’t have were a variety of individual type faces. Luck was shining on us as we found a local book binder in Portland, OR who was getting rid of some old inventory, including two classic Hamilton Type Cabinets, full of hand set type, which we were able to grab at a very (very!) reasonable price. Our hand set type project is now geared up, we’ll be identifying the type faces we have and working up samples over the next few months!
